Expanded Public Works Programme

The Expanded Public Works Programme is one of the South African government’s key programmes aimed at providing poverty and income relief through temporary work for the unemployed. The EPWP is a nationwide programme covering all spheres of government and SOEs.  source 

Mission

Create work opportunities for the unemployed through temporary working environment and to provide opportunities for the unemployed to obtain skills and gain work experience by enhancing the chances of future work employment and/or triggering their Entrepreneurial spirit.

Vision

• Creating sustainable exist work opportunities for the youth and those in the vulnerable sector. • Promote social cohesion within communities. • Promote economic development and poverty alleviation in poor communities • To promote Entrepreneurship for the youth.

Projects

Through the programme, community infrastructure projects have been established , recycling principles implemented at public institutions and communities fed. A total of over 5000 participants have been part of the programme through the partnership with the Independent Development Trust
